The GRE Analytical writing assessment comprises of two parts: the issue essay and the argument essay. While many aspirants assume that they get evaluated on their thought process in Analytical writing assessment, it is actually the opposite. The evaluator is actually focusing on your writing abilities, but that doesn’t mean you can go out of context or be illogical about your essays.

Here are some tips on how you can skillfully tackle Analytical writing Assessment section in GRE:

1. Brainstorm

Before you start writing, it is very important that you think first and jot down the basic things you would be writing. When you brainstorm before writing, you come up with new thoughts and ideas and you can arrange them in a proper order which would save some editing time.

2. Practice

Success without practice is a myth. So make sure you practice and write essays. Also time yourself while practicing as you will be allotted only 30 minutes for each essay. The more you write, the better you will be.

3. Read often

It is very important to read sample essays.In fact make it a habit to read, read voraciously on any topic. It will greatly improve your vocabulary. If you don’t read much, your writing will be impaired as you will limit yourself from new ideas. When you read, you also think and consume new thoughts and ways of writing.

4. Improve your vocabulary

An essay that projects strong command over vocabulary can leave a good impact on the evaluator. Having said that, it is also observed that vocabulary and grammar is the section where many face a barrier. Hence, it is extremely important that  you improve your grammar because bad grammar would not leave you anywhere.

5. Speed up!

GRE is a computer based exam. So, it is best that you Practice  typing the essays on the computer and not write it with pen and paper. This will help you increase your typing speed and to have ample time to edit after completing the essay.
